Just like for Exam P, the exam fee for Exam FM is $250 USD for the computer based exam. Again, these costs are unavoidable and you'll have to pay the fee each time you attempt the exam. Again, costs for study materials are quite variable depending on which option you decide on.

To enter the occupation, actuaries typically need a bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or some other analytical field. Students must complete coursework in subjects such as economics, applied statistics, and corporate finance and must pass a series of exams to become certified.

An actuary uses math and statistics to estimate the financial impact of uncertainty and help clients minimize risk. An actuary can assess and manage the risks of financial investments, insurance policies, and other potentially risky ventures.
