How do you get into the National youth orchestra?
How to join. We begin looking for new musicians to join the NYO Orchestra in March each year. Musicians take part in video and in-person auditions and workshops with support and feedback every step of the way. Musicians can upload a video audition to the Musicians' Portal by mid-June.

From what I recall, it is quite competitive. When I had auditioned (unfortunately didn't get in) for NYO 2017, they had noted that the acceptance rate was somewhere around 10%.
