The RReq message communicates the results of the authentication or verification. The message is sent by the ACS through the DS to the 3DS Server. There is only one RReq message per AReq message.

If the issue persists, attempting the payment from a different browser may resolve the error message. If the error message remains, the cardholder's recourse is to reach out to the support team of their credit card issuer for guidance.

3D Secure (3DS) is an authentication method that provides an additional layer of authentication for credit card transactions, protecting against fraudulent actors. 3DS asks your customers to verify their identity with the card issuer during payment.

3DS requires customers to complete an additional verification step with their card issuer during the final stage of checkout in an e-commerce transaction. Typically, customers get forwarded to their bank to authenticate the payment by entering a one-time SMS code, biometrics, bank app, or other authentication methods.
