The entire process generally takes 15–20 minutes, although you may have to wait beforehand. There is no interview at the biometrics appointment, and the people who take your fingerprints and photo do not have any information about your application, so this is not an appropriate place to ask questions.

If I'm asked to give my biometrics, does that mean my application is approved? No. Giving your biometrics is one of the steps you need to do before we can process your application. Once you give us your biometrics, we'll use them to assess your application.

It might take 4 – 12 weeks to receive a biometric appointment notice after filing your application with USCIS. However, your wait time will depend on the USCIS service center processing your case.
