The entire process generally takes 15–20 minutes, although you may have to wait beforehand. There is no interview at the biometrics appointment, and the people who take your fingerprints and photo do not have any information about your application, so this is not an appropriate place to ask questions.

The person submitting biometrics should bring the appointment notice and valid, unexpired photo identification (for example, Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551), passport, or driver's license), or other identity documentation as authorized by USCIS to the appointment.

If I'm asked to give my biometrics, does that mean my application is approved? No. Giving your biometrics is one of the steps you need to do before we can process your application. Once you give us your biometrics, we'll use them to assess your application.

You must bring a printed copy of your appointment letter, your DS-160 confirmation page, one photograph taken within the last six months, your current passport and previously issued passport that contains your U.S. Visa. Applications without all these items will not be accepted.
