'Wann' Is Related to Time It usually asks or relates to the question "when?" In a statement such as "I don't know when the train is arriving," the word wann would be used. (See examples above.) It can sometimes mean "whenever," as in "Sie können kommen, wann (immer) sie wollen." Ich weiß nicht, wann der Zug ankommt.

Was, when it means “which, that”, is used: after words such as nichts (nothing), alles (everything), etwas (something) or das (this, that) – without a noun.

German wie ('how') is, first of all, a question word asking for a manner or method. It occurs in many syntactic environments, most prominently in questions, as in (1).
