The orchestra's season remains 52 weeks and size remains 100 members. Musicians will receive raises each year of the contract. Base salary will rise from $135,096 (2017-2018) to $143,364 by the 2020-2021 season.

Over the next 24 years, the no-nonsense Szell transformed the Cleveland band into perhaps the world's best-disciplined orchestra. A later music director, Christoph von Dohnanyi, continued to maintain Szell's high standards. Today, under Dohnanyi's successor Franz Welser-Möst, that fine tradition is still upheld.

Most classical concerts last between 90 minutes and two hours, including one intermission. Family Concerts and Friday Morning Matinees last about one hour.

There is no dress code for Cleveland Orchestra performances.
